The Art of Out of Focus Flowers #2

Some time back I started a Flickr group called "The Art of Out of Focus Flowers".  The rule was that less than 10% of the photograph could be in focus, such that it transcended the flower to an art like state
While it wasn't a big group, people seemed to like it for the reason that it was art and not a technical showcase as some photos can portray.  Check it out here

Toronto Autoshow - A quick commentary

I'm taking a short break from Photography on this post to give a quick commentary on the Toronto AutoShow.  All the photos were taken with the NEX 5n and the Sony 16mm f2.8, which makes a great combination both in terms of focal length and low light performance, but also in terms of pocketability.

Scion FRS - What a great car!  Lotus performance and handling for warm hatchback money.

Mini Cooper S Coupe - This one had very cool mirrors!  The car is kinda pointless.

Mercedes concept - This Mercedes concept was more photographically cool than aesthetically pleasing.

New C7 Chevrolet Corvette
The ultimate machine for the Handle Bar moustache and chest wig brigade.

Ford V8 - Cam chain, pulley system and combustion chamber on a Ford 'Coyote' V8 for the 'car' people.

Ford Focus ST - Traditional torque steerin' turbo hot hatch in nuclear waste yellow

Ferrari FF - Who woulda thunk it!  A Ferrari station wagon.  Albeit one with a 700hp V12.

Ferrari 599XX - A Ferrari race car that can't be registered and only driven on the track when Ferrari says you can.  All for a cool $2 mill.  What a bargain.

Ferrari F40 - The coolest super car out of the '80s and a personal favorite.  This one was kinda ruined with aftermarket alloys and being lowered within an inch of it's life.

Lotus Evora - A great 2+2 with true Brit build quality.  Uses a Toyota 3.5L V6 and a Toyota Australia TRD developed supercharger from the long lamented TRD Aurion.  Therefore the engine will outlive between 3 and 5 Lotus chassis's.  Also available in nuclear waste yellow.

Jeep Wrangler - As hideous to drive as the paint job suggests.  Except if you are on the Rubicon Trail (which includes most people's morning commute)

Mazda 6 Diesel - A beautiful entrant in the slimy fuel market.  Nice car too...

Mazda MX-5 - One of the best all time convertibles is also one of the cheapest.  The name is on the dash, just in case you forget what you are driving.

Red Bull Racing F1 car - F1 Car by Red Bull Racing, badge by Infiniti.

The Art of Out of Focus Flowers #1

One thing I love about macro is that it turns something ordinary in to some extra ordinary when viewed up very close.  The same thing happens to flowers.  It is almost like a completely different world opens up.  Here's some shots from a while back that I took on my D2X, probably with my Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro and a reversed Nikon 24mm f2 Ais.
