MISSION:

Snapshot Voyager is about my own personal photography journey. I am always looking to try something new, inquisitive as to how it works, and to the end results I might achieve.

Fuji X100 - First Impressions

The Fuji X100 is quite a beautiful camera.  Designed to look like a classic camera from years gone by, it could have easily rolled off a German production line with a Leica badge.  I have seen this camera put alongside a Leica M3 and a Canonet, and the resemblance is uncanny.

The camera is much lighter than the fake metal / vulcanite leads you to believe, and most controls come easily to hand.  The menu button is a little hard to press without pressing the 4 way controller if you have larger fingers though.

The camera feels nice in the hand and the hybrid viewfinder works well, though swapping between screen modes takes a little learning.  Initial photo quality impressions are very good, with strong colours, good dynamic range and the lens seems sharp.  Close focusing seems to be an issue though.

Overall, I am quite impressed and am looking forward to getting out and taking some shots!
